The Whole World Celebrates: Cuban Doctors Achieve Cure for Vitiligo
Vitiligo, also known as leukoderma, is a skin disease which manifest through discolored skin patches. Studies have shown that the disease affects 1% of the world’s population regardless of age, gender or race. Science has been unable to find a cure for the disease until a short time ago, when Cuban scientists finally managed to discover a treatment.
Vitiligo usually appears on the face, limbs and genital area and can cause a few discolored patches or big discolored areas on the skin. It is caused by loss of melanocytes, cells responsible for the production of melanin. Melanin is a broad term for a group of natural pigments that give our skin its color.
The cure for vitiligo is available only in Cuba at the moment. If you’re interested, you should first contact the International Clinical Service in Havana and stay in Cuba for at least 3 days. The clinic is open from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM and you can consult with the staff from Monday to Friday. After conducting biopsy on a small piece of your skin, you will be advised on the further steps of the treatment. The treatment costs 150.00 CUC, and the patient can stay in a hotel.
After the first few mandatory sessions, the patient can continue his treatment home. The medication is called Melagenina Plus and each bottle costs 36.00 CUC. The treatment should, however, be performed under medical supervision. The drug is not sold freely in stores – to get it, you must have a prescription from the Cuban clinic.
What is Melagenina Plus?
Melagenina Plus is essentially an alcoholic extract of a human placenta. It boosts the production of melanocytes in the skin, which in turn boost the production of melanin and treats vitiligo. The drug is harmless for adults and children as well, and doesn’t interfere with any medications. However, it’s best to administer it under direct medical supervision for best results.
